Hair Fun Fact #1

Ever wonder why you shed so much hair? well I’ve got just the answer for you

People shed an average between 50-127 pieces of hair a day and there are lots of variables as to how much you shed, for example:

If you’re a Red Head:

You have the lowest at 90,000 follicles (pieces of hair) on your entire head and your hair will have a growth cycle of about 5 years before shedding this means you would/should lose around 50 strands per day

If you’re a Brunette or Darker:

You have an average of 110,000 follicles (pieces of hair) on your head and will have a growth cycle of about 4 years before shedding, and you should lose around 90-115 strands per day

and last but most certainly not the least Blondes:

You ladies average out at the most amount of hair, I know to some of you it may feel thin, but just know its per square inch not per strand size and texture that this measurement comes from. Coming in at 140,000 follicles (pieces of hair) with a growth cycle of 3 years before shedding, you should be losing around 127 pieces of hair per day. Out of everybody your hair replaces itself the most and you probably notice lots of new hair (or fuzzy’s) growing in.

So thats the basic amounts, but dont forget about the other variables such as if you wear your hair up all day and finally take it down for a shower all those hairs had no way to escape so its going to seem like a lot is coming out. Or if you have short hair you’re not going to notice when it escapes, while if your hair is longer it has plenty of room to hid and friends to hang on to.

So I hope that clears some things up for you so you can stop being mad at your hair for shedding so much, or scared that you’re losing you hair.
